Product Details

Titanium CAS#7440-32-6

Titanium can be alloyed with other elements such as iron, aluminum, vanadium or molybdenum to form high-strength lightweight alloys, which have extensive applications in various fields, including aerospace (jet engines, missiles and spacecraft), military, industrial processes (chemical and petrochemical products, seawater desalination and papermaking), automobiles, agricultural and food products, medicine (prosthetics, orthopedic implants and dental instruments and fillings), kitchenware, sports equipment, jewelry and mobile phones, etc. Titanium is regarded as a rare metal because it is dispersed in nature and difficult to extract. However, its relative abundance ranks tenth among all elements on Chemicalbook.  The main ores of titanium are ilmenite and rutile, which are widely distributed in the earth's crust and lithosphere. Titanium is also present in almost all living organisms, rocks, water bodies and soils. The extraction of titanium from the main ores requires the Kroll process or the Hunter process. The most common compound of titanium, titanium dioxide, is used to make white pigments. Other compounds include titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) (used as a catalyst and for creating smoke screens or aerial messages) and titanium trichloride (TiCl3) (used in the catalytic production of polypropylene).

Titanium alloys have high strength and are widely used in the manufacturing of structural materials for military supersonic aircraft, compression components of jet engines, components of aircraft frames, casings, fireproof walls, rivets; structural components of air transport equipment; decks of military facilities and military vessels as well as blades of propellers, etc. In civilian industries, titanium and its alloys can be used to manufacture various pumps, valves, filters, evaporative equipment, metal wire meshes and various machine parts. Powdered titanium can be used as a deoxidizer in the manufacturing process of electron tubes.

Application of Titanium

It is mainly used in the manufacturing of space shuttles, rockets and missiles, submarines, chemical equipment, medical devices, artificial joints, etc., and is also used in the production of titanium dioxide.

Plastic molds, chemical equipment, heat exchange reactors, reaction vessels, generators, tubular evaporators, fixed-bed adsorbers, heat exchangers, reboilers (reboilers), condensers, heads, towers.
