Product Details

Physical Properties of m-Xylylenediamine m-Xylylenediamine, abbreviated as MXDA, is a colorless clear liquid with a special fragrance similar to almonds. It has hygroscopicity and will gradually turn light yellow when exposed to air for a long time. Its viscosity is close to dibutyl phthalate, and it can be completely dissolved in both water and organic solvents.

Industrial Properties and Application Areas As an epoxy resin curing agent, MXDA belongs to the aliphatic amine category containing aromatic rings. It features low viscosity and can be cured and polymerized at room temperature. The benzene ring structure in the molecule significantly improves the heat resistance of the cured epoxy material, better than common vinylamine products. In addition, the cured product has excellent chemical stability, is not easy to hydrolyze, and has strong resistance to acid, alkali and various corrosive media. Therefore, it is widely used in industrial fields such as electronic potting glue, structural adhesives and anti-corrosion coatings.

Main Applications of m-Xylylenediamine (MXDA)

MXDA acts as a crucial raw material in various industries. It is mainly used to produce epoxy curing agents, photosensitive polymers, rubber additives, polyurethane materials and coating products. As an active chemical component, it is widely used in the synthesis of polyurethane resins and modified epoxy products. Its other uses also cover the preparation of pesticides, nylon materials, textile auxiliaries, corrosion inhibitors, chelating agents, lubricating additives and paper processing chemicals.

Product Features and Derivative Uses

The special aliphatic and aromatic mixed structure of MXDA gives it excellent physical and chemical properties, supporting a wide range of application scenarios. MXDA and its cyclic hydrogenated derivatives are both high-efficiency epoxy curing agents, with the advantages of low viscosity, easy operation and fast curing at room temperature. The cured material has excellent thermal stability, hydrolysis resistance and chemical stability, and the surface is smooth and highly transparent. In addition, MXDA is an important intermediate in fine chemicals. It can react with diacids to form polyamide through polycondensation, and can also be used to prepare m-xylylene diisocyanate, which is an important monomer for polyurethane. Its hydrogenated ring derivatives are also commonly used in the synthesis of diisocyanates. Emerging applications of MXDA include rubber vulcanizing agents, agricultural chemicals, fiber stabilizers, surfactants and various special chemical additives.
