Product Details

Anhydrous magnesium sulfate, commonly referred to as Epsom salt, bitter salt, or sulfur bitter, is a magnesium-based chemical compound. It typically presents as colorless or white hygroscopic crystals, or a fine white powder. This material is odorless, has a distinct bitter-salty taste, and exhibits deliquescent properties.

Magnesium sulfate anhydrous CAS:139939-75-6

When in its heptahydrate form, magnesium sulfate loses six water molecules at 150°C and becomes completely anhydrous when heated to 200°C. The anhydrous form has a density of 2.66, melts at 1124°C, and decomposes at this temperature. It is highly soluble in water, moderately soluble in alcohol, ether, and glycerol, and insoluble in acetone.
